Character Name: Lucrecia Crescent
Canon: The Compilation of Final Fantasy VII
Canon Point: Post-Dirge of Cerberus; she is asleep in her crystal

Personality: Lucrecia is a scientist. A very excitable one at times, and once she has a goal, she doesn’t waver, but a scientist nonetheless. She is an extremely skilled biotechnologist, evidenced by how she takes Vincent and not only saves his life, but actually reverses the decay his body had begun to go through while he was still alive. Speaking of? She loves Vincent. It took her awhile to admit, and she pushed him away because she had inadvertently killed his father, but she loves him, and that’s why she works so hard—sometimes even going so far as to rush.

However, Lucrecia isn’t always a happy person. She had become fairly jaded since becoming involved with Hojo. He not only killed the man she loved (even though she was dating Hojo at the time), he took her child and talked down to her, leading her to be depressed. She was so depressed, she attempted suicide. She began to profusely apologize to Vincent, even if he couldn’t hear her. She readily admits she made mistakes—a lot of them—at this point. But she’ll also admit that, while she never meant it to turn out this way, that, “[She’s] happy he survived.”

Lucrecia is normally calm, though she does get worked up at times and end up lashing out—either at the computers, or by yelling. She grew distraught multiple times during the flashbacks of Dirge of Cerberus, and became infuriated with Hojo for not even allowing her to hold her own son—Sephiroth.

Lucrecia is also very big about making her own decisions and living with the consequences. When Vincent asks if she’s sure she wants to go through with the experiments, she insists, “If this only concerns me, then yes, I am sure.” She reacts angrily when her actions are questioned, perhaps because of the years of ridicule she faced for her thesis.

She has many regrets, however, she is definitely satisfied with the outcome now. Vincent is alive, and he is now moving on. Even though she misses her life and wishes she could take some things back, she is happy that Vincent was able to live and didn’t die for her mistakes.

History: Linking

Abilities: None are displayed in canon outside of her being able to trap herself in a crystal.

Strengths: Lucrecia is a woman of science. She is brilliant and bright, correctly concluding that the old stories of Omega were true—and making it her thesis. She was, rightfully, high within ShinRa’s department of biotechnology—specifically, genetic modification. In fact, she was one of very few women at the time who held a science career within the company. She also has that drive of her, so that when she has a goal in mind, she completes it—regardless of the consequences on her. She is a kind woman, too, and does not take someone—anyone—questioning her choices lightly. She is determined to prove that those who laughed at her over her thesis are wrong, as well.
Weaknesses: As for her weaknesses, Lucrecia has crippling self esteem. While it doesn’t stop her, it does slow her down and keep her from trying to reach her own happiness. When she makes a mistake, she scrambles and rushes to correct it, or even runs from it, only leading to more mistakes. And it takes a lot for her to admit these mistakes. She doesn’t think herself deserving of much, and so willingly dates Hojo—despite him openly insulting her and only using her.

First Person Sample:
[The video feed turns on. It seems it was bumped or something, as it’s currently sideways, revealing the kitchen of someone’s home. Someone is hustling and bustling about, sleeves rolled up as she works, darting between a few different things. She finally takes a moment to breathe while chopping up vegetables. Though that doesn’t last long, either, as she suddenly draws back, having cut her finger.]

Ow!

[And then an alarm goes off and she rushes to the oven, drawing out a slightly burnt cake. She sets it on the counter and sighs.]

…This is much harder than I thought. I don’t think I’m quite cut out for this… It’s not at all like what I’m used to. Baking a cake isn’t… exactly like a complex chemical formula…

[She sighs, then goes over to her device to make a call, blinking down at the thing and then frantically hiding the mess of her kitchen.]

I’m sorry you had to see that. I guess…I should be asking for tips?

Third Person Sample:
She should be within the Lifestream. This isn’t there, though. And she’s been told everything she thought, everything she felt, was a lie. Nothing more than a vivid dream. All of her mistakes and the pain, the attempt to end it all only to be thwarted by the very womb which had housed the son that was taken from her and the infection of foreign, parasitic cells that began to erode her mind and body. Staring out the window now, preparing to leave the hospital, she can hardly believe it. And yet, the evidence is right here. It seems that the only thing out of place in all of this is her own memory. It’s almost… Strange and relieving to know that, perhaps, none of it happened. That maybe… Maybe… She can move forward, for once.

“You ready?”

Lucy is shaken from her thoughts, and she smiles over her shoulder somewhat nervously. She still doesn’t remember anything of her supposed life before the coma. Only time will tell if she ever will. Until then, it will simply be an uphill struggle. One without, perhaps, the cloud of guilt actually hanging over her. Here, even if it’s not true, she has hope. This is a second chance, where she can move forward with the heavy weight of her sins no longer on her shoulders. Those are gone, washed off with the waking from the coma—much as the crystal sleep was cleansing. She has a possibly bright future ahead of her, she tells herself.

And maybe, this time, she won’t make too many mistakes.
